We GEEK Art and Lou Reed

Rest in peace, Lou...no doubt resting on the Wild Side and having a Perfect Day!!!
I was fortunate enough to take part in this GEEK THE LIBRARY campaign that featured Lou Reed as one of the celebrity endorsers.  I have my Lou poster proudly displayed in my own art studio.  I was also fortunate enough to see Lou many, many moons ago live at the Roxy Theater on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood with my childhood BFF... Thinking of you, Nay Nay!   Back in the day...the good old days!

Soy Candlemaking Again!

What wonderful colors and scents.
The talented chics of the Arty Tea Party, once again, stepped out to the Big Red Barn to learn Lynn's process for making Soy Candles.  Rosebud Sandy had everyone cracking up with every little thing that comes out of her mouth. Laughter is good for the soul.  It was a great turn out, as everyone chose their own colors to go with their chosen scents.  In the foreground you will see Cranberry color to go with cranberry scent, the caramel colors are mine and 1 for Nina that are Cedarwood Vanilla scented, with a touch of Fig scent mixed in.  They smell amazing.  Thanks to Lynn for opening up just for us!

Fun group of Talented Chics...(yes, I'm behind the camera)
Miss Kitty showing off her dolls
Kitty Mitchell, one very talented chic, for sure was pleased to share her dolls with the group.  You can see some of Kitty's work, Santos Doll on page 75 of Art Doll Quarterly Aug/Sept. issue, and her very cool Captain Hook in the current November issue of Art Doll Quarterly.  WAY TO GO, KITTY!

Meet Jan, our newest member with her newly acquired doll from Kitty, that she named, Willow.

And after all is said and done, we must take deep breaths and remember what truly is important in our lives.  The Universe is allowing Mother Nature to display all of her Autumn Glory.  Get out there and enjoy what is left of it before the dreaded "s" word comes with the cold winter winds.
SIMPLIFY!  AND GIVE THANKS!

Talented Chics Stepping Out

Happy Herbs Soap and The Arty Tea Party Guild

Dear Sweet Nina of Happy Herbs Soap from the lovely gardens at Two Crow Cottage were out and about this past weekend at the Little World's Fair in Grahamsville, New York...the foothills of the beautiful Catskill Mountains.  The weather was perfect all 3 days!!!
Nothing like a good old fashioned car show...cruisin' through the mountains...
And the best thing about this fair, is there is NO CELL PHONE SERVICE...the folks are actually greeting each other with smiles and talking face to face...the children are running and playing and petting the animals in the exhibits...no texting, no cell phones, just good old-fashioned DIRECT HUMAN COMMUNICATION!!!  FANTASTIC!!!  Yes, in the cool fresh mountain air of the Catskills...nothing could be finer!   A GOOD DAY WAS HAD BY ALL, FOR SURE!!!

Screenprinting with the Arty Tea Party

At Weinert's for a fun screen print party!
Pat Weinert of Weinert T-Shirts in Middletown New York, invited the talented chics of the Arty Tea Party Guild to have their next gathering at the studio.  With 2 custom made screens, we were able to pick out a t-shirt and a canvas tote bag to do our very own screen prints.  VERY COOL!
Go Judie...
This is my awesome shirt...black ink...then onto the dryer...
I LOVE IT!
White Ink for our very cool canvas tote bags...
voila...my red tote!
Some of our stash...

It was a great time, thanks to Pat, and Fran and Wally.  Some of the gals were using their own sweatshirts, and jean shirts to use the awesome screens on.  And of course, they gave up a their lunch room for us to set up our spread of amazing food and drink, which is the essential part of our gatherings.  Good food, good cheer, good friends!  And a good time was had by all!

Rolling Art

Blank canvas
I recently stumbled upon this great idea to display miniature works of art.  And since we are a group of talented chics who meet regularly to exchange, create, eat, yes, drink and be merry, I thought this project was right up our alley!

The layers begin...paints, papers...rubber stamps...oh, the teapot is whistling...
be right back!   (teatime is drying time)

I will complete these first 3 cards in steps...adding images, writings...who knows what will transpire as I get inspired...it's Springtime and I am in no hurry!

And later today, I will hand out rolodex cards to my ARTY TEA PARTY FRIENDS to create...
Here's a link to some CRAZY GUYS where I found this project...More CRAZY GUYS

Soy Candle Making Party

 1846 House Soaps Soy Candles
Beautiful Spring Colored Soy Candles

Thanks to Lynn of 1846 House Soaps for hosting
the Soy Candle Making event for the Arty Tea Party Guild...
Lynn took us step by step, from preparing the Mason Jars and wicks, to the melting of the wax.  (All while we were having our fancy teas and coffee and treats.)

As the melted wax is cooling in our glass measuring cups, it is time for the few drops of color, if desired.  Stir, stir...and while the wax gets to a certain temperature, (not too hot, not too cool) we sniff all the different scented oils available to try and match the colors we have chosen.  Unscented is fine, too!

Golden Honey Color Drops
I chose the color of Golden Honey for the color of my candles, amber like.  For one candle, my scent is Cedarwood/Vanilla and for the other Brown Sugar/FigI love the colors, one just a hint lighter than the other...
Colored, scented, and poured!
Now we wait, while the wax is setting.  The whole barn smells amazing!  This is when we shop, yak, eat, drink and be merry!
And we shared "Rosebud" Sandy's birthday cake.  Even though Dear Sweet Sandy Rosebud was not in attendance!

Many different colors and scents.

Thank you Lynn...it was a great day!  Stop by and visit Lynn at the Big Red Barn, or visit her here...1846 House Soaps to see all of her handmade Goat's Milk Soap products AND the great Soy Candles!
HAPPY SPRING...FINALLY!

Arty Tea Egg Party

Rose's Egg

Here is another of the wonderfully decorated goose eggs from the Arty Tea Party hosted by Sandy "Rosebud".  The glitz and bling and lavender color is a beautiful transition from where that egg started.  Wish I had a before picture when it was a completely different color...ha ha...  With so many colors and supplies to choose from, it was hard to limit.  Rose, you have done a fine job!
Arty Tea Party in action...
Special thanks to Sandy, the Hostess with the Mostess
and Lynn for the last stash of goose eggs.

Welcome to our newest member...Kathryn!

 Next party is candlemaking...stay tuned!

Purple Valentine Blog Hop Giveaway

Purple paper sacks for Nina...

Our Dear Nina is participating in the Purple Valentine Blog Hop Giveaway hosted by Dean Designs
And since we know Nina is all about PURPLE, I have sewn up some purple paper sacks for her
HANDMADE HEART SHAPED HAPPY HERB SOAPS...
just in time for Valentine's Day!

The wild scarf in the background includes the
greens and purples that scream Nina's name!
It was affectionately knit by me, aka hula~la in blogosphere, and has received so many compliments that Nina has had to tie it on tight for fear of it being dragged off by admirers!
Makes me feel all warm and cozy inside, just knowing that.
And since I don't ever repeat a pattern,
it is ONE OF A KIND!

Stop by to visit Nina  at Happy Herbs Soap on Feb. 11
for a chance to win her
PURPLE VALENTINE BLOG HOP GIVEAWAY!
