SOAPMAKER NINA

Wanted to give a great BIG shoutout to our very own HAPPY HERBS SOAP LADY, NINA!
She came to the Pine Bush Library to do a Soapmaking Workshop with the children in our Summer Reading Program today. She is the BEST!!!

As always, it was a HIT! Parents enjoyed it just as much as the kids. Though one was a little nervous about the texture in it's "raw" state. We were the first to use the newly constructed annex porch (with a/c) and it now has the wonderful smells of Nina's Happy Herbs Soap instead of that "new construction" smell.

And if you haven't seen Nina's Garden Dragon, check it out on her blog. Wait till the next tea party at her house. The picture is deceiving. It is HUGE! And I think we should "Name The Dragon" for her. So, go to her blog and leave a name in the comments!

Bentwood Creations

ArTy TeA PaRTy ladies...if you haven't received Alicia's email about the next tea party... IT IS ANDREA'S FABULOUS BENTWOOD CREATIONS:) yay...

THURSDAY, JUNE 10th, 10:30ish... (email Andrea for directions)

Remember to bring gloves, your own hand clippers, twine is good, wire always handy...and any dried items you may want to incorporate into your design. Happy to say that I made another one after seeing Nina's large flower in her garden. It is willow with grapevine, and it survived the MAD BAD COLD WINTER!

Also, the ATC swap is "FARM". And the one in my head is "awesome". (I promise to get on it.) My problem is, I always give them to Andrea first if I see her around the neighborhood! (She is a great BFF).

Remember the goodies and "drinks" to share!

TEA PARTY FUN!

Well Tea Partiers...it was another fabulous day at the incredible Crans Mill Studio. Everyone was busy, busy, busy with their own works of creativity. Judie amazed even herself when she became aware of the "negative space" surrounding her pitcher/vase. It was a beauty! And thank you for the sea treasures. Nice to see Lucy finally join us at the studio where she worked on ATC's and Envies. Lovely Christine was so inspired by her first visit to the tea, that she couldn't resist another go at it with us to learn new tricks and techniques. Andrea has been very into the quilting and fabric textures with her embroidery and stitching of envies and ATC's. I absolutely love the ones I received from her. I look at them daily to keep myself inspired:) Alicia made everyone laugh with her interpretation of the ATC theme of the month: BUGS! Her drawing of the VW Classic was a real show stopper. Miss Rosebud Sandy, who never travels light, shared her vast array of twirly-swirly rubber stamps with the giant stamp pad. And she brought abit of her mother to share with everyone, as she has been sorting through mountains of craft supplies that have been stored in abundance at mom's house.

As usual, Michelle, our wonderful HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTEST, makes us all smile with the melting beeswax pot, always at the ready, the hot glue gun aimed to please, and the endless supply of paints, markers, brushes, glitters, papers, and envelopes galore! The studio with that fabulous mountain view is the most inspirational place to create art! TO PEACOCK PRIDE;)

Next Tea Party is at Andrea's for Bentwood creations. Bring your own tools, and anything you may want to incorporate into your design. Dried flowers, vines, etc. Wire and twine would be useful, too. Thursday May 13, same time. ATC theme chosen by Andrea is CHILDREN! (Nina will be thrilled with that one.) And don't forget the goodies! Food and drink make for a fun time!

Until we meet again, I remain affectionately yours,

Vicki (making items outofhand to benefit the upcoming Relay for Life) Check out my blog for those items.

Next Arty Tea Party

Hooray for Spring! Time flies whether you're having fun or not, it seems, and hopefully you are all working hard on something to bring to the Arty Tea Party this Thursday, April 8. Crans Mill Studio is the place to be, same time. And as usual, please bring forth goodies to share! Remember the theme for the ATC is "Bugs".
Also, if you haven't done your "Recipe Card" for the Arty Tea Party cookbook, you can work on it there. So bring your recipe with you if you want. The plan is to have it printed and bound for sale. All proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will be donated to the PBHS for a scholarship for a student attending an art school. (This does take time and effort, so it probably will not be available for this year's graduating class.)
Any questions on the upcoming tea, please email Alicia or Michelle. Once again, we are grateful to Michelle for opening up her fabulous studio for the creative side in all of us:)

Until we meet on Thursday, I remain, fondly yours, Vicki (continuously creating outofhand). I'll bring some new library books that will surely spark your creative side!

HUDSON VALLEY CREATE

What a wonderful gathering for the kick-off event of HUDSON VALLEY CREATE; some very talented individuals, indeed! The creative side of each person showed when the paint tops came off, the glue began to flow, and papers and scissors were converging to become bits and pieces of beautiful art. Many of the Ladies of the Arty Tea Party were out in full force showing off all the decorative envelopes in the latest swap. ATC's, (artist trading cards) were everywhere. It was nice to catch up with some old faces, as well as meet many new ones. What great fun! Thanks to Ellen at Quimby and Smith for hosting the gathering. (Hope next time you can actually join in...)
As mentioned, we are considering a future "Altered Books" Workshop. Please leave a comment here if interested, and we will set that up with Ellen.

Open Studio Event

The last Arty Tea Party, this past Thursday at the fabulous Crans Mill Studio, was a total blast! Everyone got down to business with paints and inks and stamps on ATC's and on envelopes provided by "Outlaw Josie Red Drawers". Judie was hard at work with her gourd etching; can't wait to see the latest on those!

As usual, we ate in grand fashion and drank every sort of tea you can imagine:) It was nice to see such a full group enjoying the inspiration of each other's creative side. THANKS ONCE AGAIN TO OUR LOVELY HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTEST: MICHELLE;)

You can meet some of the members of the Arty Tea Party at an upcoming event in Downtown Pine Bush, NY. On Friday, March 26 6:00 pm - ?, HUDSON VALLEY CREATE will be kicking off an Open Studio at Quimby and Smith, 91 Main Street, Pine Bush. You can join in with Altered Art, Artist Trading Cards (you must bring one, if you want to trade), Envelope Art...and so much more. If you are currently working on a project, and you want to share it, please bring it along! Some supplies provided, and you are encouraged to bring your favorite materials.

Space is limited for this event, and you must call to reserve a space. For details, call Ellen at 845-744-3946. Suggested donation to attend is $10 which includes refreshments.

Group Envie

Here are a few more envies with addies blocked out...

It's not too late to jump in...just dress up an envelope and send it on its way to some lucky person. But remember, if you receive one, you must return one! NOTE: if it is textured in any way, shape or form, or if papers are fragile, it is best to take it directly to the post office and have them hand cancel it instead of having it get ripped to shreds by "la postal machine".

Elizabeth C, I got your addie from Lucy and one is coming your way...can't wait to receive one from you as I understand you have a very extensive art background! WE WELCOME YOU TO JOIN IN!

Stay tuned for upcoming events as the ArTy TeA PaRty takes it on the road!!!

Envie Swap # 1

The 1st Envie Swap of the ArTy TeA PArtY is underway, and there seems to be a lot of excitement about it! And the look on the postal workers faces, aka"Nina's Comrades", when having them hand cancelled, is truly joyful to witness because it no doubt is interesting mail to say the least...(and you may use any size envelope you wish:)
This is a copy of my 3rd one, have one more to do...hope my recipients will be pleasantly surprised! Enjoy!

#10 Envelope Mailing

Hello Talented Chics of the Arty Tea Party...

I've been wanting to do this for a very long time. Easy to do...just take a #10 size envelope, the long letter size, decorate it, seal it closed, nothing inside to mail...the envelope is the treasure!

Remember, it must go through the mail, so no 3-D doo-dads and trinkets that we love so much. You can use markers, papers, paints, chalks, stickers, pastels, pencils, pens...just make it your own work of art. Put a stamp on it, and address it to anyone in the Tea Party mailings...(you will have to get USPS address from them direct, as we don't want to post addressess here). Anyone, who gets one, has to return one!

COME ON LADIES...FIGHT CABIN FEVER...CREATE AN ENVELOPE TODAY! I AM...and if you want one from me, you must send me one...you know how to find me:)

Tea Party Fun...

Well Tea Party Ladies...

THANKS TO OUR HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTEST, MICHELLE!
We sure do eat well, don't we? And there was such a wonderful selection of teas, I wish I could have tried them all! Of course, once Andrea opened the champagne, (apparently leftover from New Year's Eve since her lush of a friend did not show up to partake), the tea took a back seat.

I finished my Valentine ATC which I plan to send to my daughter up at college. She has a huge bulletin board above her desk covered in ATC's. (If anyone wishes to drop one to her for her collection, let me know:) I did not get to see Linda's finished painting...I hope she will post it. It was a beautiful work in progress when I left. Nor did I see Andrea's creation for the day, since I was too busy running kiddies back and forth. Dear Sandy was just amazing showing off all of her textured hearts. (Hope we didn't scare newspaper lady Kelli away!)

So, let's get ready for the next event! Alicia and Michelle are working on the details, and I will post as soon as I get the info!

Valentines Tea Party Celebration

Yes, Ladies it has been almost a whole year since our first Arty Tea Party event! Thanks to Michelle at her fabulous Crans Mill Studio, we will re-convene at her mountainview abode to celebrate this event in our usual, "Crafty, Handmade" style. We will kick off this New Year with our Valentine Theme. Bring what you will to the supply stash for all to share. Ribbons, lace, papers, sparkles, glitters, cards, glues, paints, etc. If you have a box you want to decorate for the collection of your special Valentine's, bring it on...and if you have a spare to share...bring it, as well!

If you have a particular Valentine craft that doesn't require additional supplies, come prepared to share! FUN...FUN...FUN...is in store!

Food and drink is part of the party, so feel free to contribute your faves so that we may all indulge in the style to which we have become accustomed!
YEAH BABY! BRING IT ON!

And, if you want to trade an Artist Trading Card, (ATC) bring one already made in a sealed envelope. YOU CAN'T TRADE UNLESS YOU BRING ONE! No more of, "I forgot mine, but I'll bring it next time". You snooze, you lose!

ATC theme is once again...CHOCOLATE!!!

DATE: Thursday, January 14, 2010

TIME: 10:30ish
